2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.
Teaching is an essential part of life. When we are born, we are taught so many things: how to walk, how to speak, how to relate to others, etc. so that we can live meaningfully among people. We are taught how things are done in our country, family, or school so that we don’t do the wrong things. In the same way, teachings are important in the Christian faith. Teachings give you a firm foundation in the things of God. We are taught the Word so that we know how things are done in this faith.
Everything works by principles and there are laws governing every institution. If you are in an environment where a particular act is prohibited, you will not know until you are taught. Once you make a mistake by perpetuating that act, it doesn’t matter if you knew the laws or not. God’s Kingdom has principles that govern it and ignorance of those principles only puts us in a disadvantaged position.
If someone receives the life of Christ, it is necessary for them to be nurtured in the Word through teachings so that they better understand the decision they made. If they do not understand what the decision to give one’s life to Christ entails, it would be easier to go back to the old way of life. Instead of just telling people to stop sinning, teaching them how to overcome sin would be more helpful.
A lot of times we are just told what to do or not to do instead of how to actually do it and this is where teaching comes in.
Teaching is an explanation of how something is done. So, we don’t just say God will bless you but explain what role you must play to bring it to reality.
Preaching is meant to inspire, motivate and encourage but teaching is meant to establish and set a firm foundation. Psalm 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? Most people do more preaching than teaching these days. It’s good to encourage people but we must also get to the reality of the matter by telling people what to do to experience all the nice proclamations made, to which they respond ‘Amen’.
Jeremiah 3:15 And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. The essence of the shepherd over your soul is to feed you with the Word of God. The main function of a Pastor is not to pray or fast for you. It is to teach you so that you can also do things for yourself. Ephesians 4:11-13 speaks on the assignment of the five-fold ministry gifts. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Most people who don’t teach want to take the place of God in your life so that you always have to come to them for everything. Yes, there are times you must see someone higher than you, especially the shepherd over your soul but definitely not for every single problem. God wants us to grow in our knowledge of Him so that we can handle some basic things. Someone may say that not everyone must teach because they may not have that gift. Even though there is the office of a prophet, the Apostle Paul mentioned that we desire to prophesy, and still with the office of an evangelist we are told to do the work of an evangelist and go into the world to preach. In the same vein, although we have the office of a teacher, every believer must be able to teach, even if not at the level of the one who is graced to teach, because Hebrews 5:12 says so. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God, and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
Remember that if any man is in Christ he is a new creation. The Bible never said, “He is a perfect creation.” We are renewed every day. The Christian walk is a daily affair. And so we need these teachings to be grounded in the faith. Teachings target our soul because our spirit is saved once we receive Christ. So when it comes to the working out of our salvation that Philippians 2:12 speaks about, it is teaching that accomplishes that. Through teaching, our mind is renewed to think like Christ and since we have been translated from one kingdom to the other, the previous way of thinking has to be dealt with by getting new information to replace the wrong thought patterns that formed a way of life.
In these end times, more people are interested in receiving a prophetic word or going to all kinds of places for miracles. This is not to say they are not good. The fact that you’ve been prophesied to doesn’t mean it would automatically come to pass. If the right things are not put in place, it would still not work. And these right things to be put in place must be taught. Acts 11:26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year, Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. The disciples being called Christians was an identity. People looked at their way of life and came to that conclusion. But before people could see their way of life and come to that conclusion, Barnabas and Saul taught people, and through the teaching, their lifestyle was affected.
Teaching imparts knowledge and information and this knowledge would be helpful in moments of crisis. The decisions you make are based on the information stored in your mind concerning an issue so if the wrong information is in your mind, you may be prayed for but what must be done is a renewal of the mind. And this is what teaching does. Romans 5:14 says Everything that was written in the past was to teach us. Ephesians 4:14 talks about the fact that God gave the fivefold ministers to equip us so that we would no longer be tossed away by every wind of doctrine. When we are not well-grounded in what we believe, we can be easily deceived, and tossed to and fro because we don’t know what the Christian faith is about.
Colossians 1:28 says; He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. Teaching is directly related to maturity. You could be in church for 20 years and still be a baby, which is a very scary thing. Take note of the fact that a baby or a child is limited in their ability to access certain things. Just like you can’t give your car to your little child to drive around town even though that’s a child you love so much, God will not hand certain things to you when you are still a baby even though He loves you so much.
The conclusion of the matter is that the teaching of God’s Word will equip us for what God has for us so that material possessions don’t destroy us.

You are doing so well dear .
May the God of heaven continue to grace you more and more .
You are blessed !
