Romans 13:11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. Time is a very valuable commodity in this life on earth. In the realm of the spirit, there is no time factor. Time only comes into play when we are on the earth. In Genesis 1 during creation, we see that God made times and seasons by introducing the sun, moon, stars and the entire planetary system. This means that for our life here on earth, time is vital to become all that God desires us to be. In Ecclesiastes 3:1, we are told that there is a time and season for everything under the heavens. Once we are under the heavens, which is a representation of the spirit realm, we are subject to the influence of time. In the opening scripture, we are told to understand the present time. There is past time, present time and future time. The present time is what we have to create the future we desire. In this life on earth, based on the law of seed and harvest or input versus output, our decisions determine our conclusion. In other words, where you are today is a reflection of the decisions you made in the past and where we would be in the future is dependent on the choices we make today. This is where we have the present time. With the present time, we have the power to create the future we want to see. In Genesis 8:22, the Bible says, "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” The seed we sow is the decision we make and the harvest is the result we reap from those decisions. The time of youthfulness is the season of sowing seeds. John 9:4 says, "As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work." Here, day and night were used to represent seasons of life where we make decisions. One of the major advantages a young person has over the old is time availability. Once you are not married with children, you really have no one depending on you and so you have a lot of time to yourself. With this time, you can make decisions and choices that would influence the future positively and because the devil knows this, there are so many distractions in this age for young people. The time we spend playing video games, watching movies and series that don't add to our lives and social media usage. These things can be a huge impediment to the wise usage of our time. Moses said in Psalm 90:12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Time is one of the greatest resources we have because it is the only thing that can be turned to anything we desire to see or have. Ever heard the statement, time is money? Time can be converted to money. There are people who work and are paid on an hourly basis and this means for the time they spent in adding value to an organisation, they received payment in exchange for it. Time can also be converted to a skill. In fact, the difference between an amateur and a pro is time invested in developing a talent into skill. Skill is talent plus technique and to get the technique, there is a time factor needed to perfect that craft. Time can also be converted to knowledge. To get knowledge about anything, you either read books, listen to experts, or go to school and all of that needs time. For example, a person goes to a university for 4 years(time) to receive a bachelor's degree. Finally, time can be converted to spiritual power and divine wisdom. The time we spend praying and studying the Word is an investment. It may not look like anything is happening when you begin but after a period of time of consistency, it begins to generate power. The times God has given me insight into a particular scripture, for most of the time I wasn't even reading a Bible. I could be doing a random thing and a scripture comes to mind. Then I noticed that these were scriptures I read in the past and at the time they didn't make sense to me but one day I just see another dimension to that verse of scripture. If there was no seed of that scripture or I had never seen it in the Bible, there was no way God would have used it to speak to me. God would use what you have to reveal Himself. Ask Moses. Now that you have time, use it wisely because you may never have that volume of time someday because of many commitments. Ephesians 5:15-17 is a good read Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. The key to using our time wisely is understanding God's will for us. Once purpose is not known, we abuse the time we have.
